Appendiceal Neuroendocrine Tumours – Experience of One Service

Abstract Tumours of the appendix are rare and tend to be diagnosed incidentally, in cases acute appendicitis. For some authors, appendiceal neuroendocrine tumours (ANETs) most frequent neoplasm appendix, observed 0.3% 0.9% The present is a unicentric retrospective study conducted between January 2005 March 2017. Out total 3,007 surgeries for pathologies performed adult population at hospital where was conducted, there were 70 (2.33%) malignant cases, 20 (28.6%) which ANETs. patients had median age 44 years (range: 18 85 years), predominantly women (there 1.9 times more than men). In 16 (80%), simple appendicectomy (1 patient submitted right hemicolectomy later). ANETs good prognosis our series: 85% either alive today or after 5 follow-up. Despite fact that described as tumor this not confirmed series, they only represented 28.6% cases; adenocarcinoma (65.7%) among sample.
